Hello friends. You all know well what a virus is. Virus may have different characteristics. I am not gonna define types of virus here. A virus in a computer world is very popular. It is a type of virus which creates shortcut of your file.It may create shortcut of any file in your computer. It also creates shortcut when you send a file in external memory or open a external memory in corrupted system. Basically it infects flash drives like your pen drives.
I have used many antiviruses like avast, Microsoft Security Essential, but none of these are able to remove this. May be now it is able to remove this kind of virus. Then I found a trick which removes the virus and it does not require any antivirus.
In this blog I am gonna show you how to remove a shortcut virus from your computer. This becomes very serious when you found that you can not copy your data because only shortcut is copied. So I have made a trick by which you can remove this virus.
Understanding Of Removal Of Virus
At that time when my pc was infected by this virus, I thought virus is effective every time when I open my system, It means there is a process which runs every time when I start my computer. Then I opened task manager and found that process. Now to remove virus I have to close this process permanatly.
Removal Of Virus
If you are sure that your PC is infected by shortcut virus then follow the steps..
Step 1- Open Task Manager. To open this either press Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Delete or right click on task bar then select "Start Task Manager"
Step 2- Click on "Process"
Step 3- Go down then you can see a process "wscript.exe". This is a process which creates virus.
Step 4- Click on this process and then select "end process". Now it means this time you have closed the effect of virus.
This is temporary not permanat. To see that virus is still effective or not send any file to pen drive. I am sure virus will not be created. But if you restart your computer, The process will run and again and again you have to close the process again. But I have the solution..
Step 5- Click on start menu and type "msconfig" and open it. If you are windows xp user then open "run" command and type "msconfig" and press enter. After opening window of "System Configuration", click on startup
Step 6- Now search that process. Here it is "Microsoft Windows Script Host" in the column of "Startup Item" and in the column of "Command" it is showing its name "wscript.exe"
Step 8- Uncheck this process and then click on apply. It will ask for restart your computer. So restart your computer.
Now shortcut will not be created.
Note- I am telling you how I came to know that this virus can be removed by this trick.
Actually
me & my friends were very much troubled by this virus and we have
tried many antiviruses but all are failed. So I thought if it creates
shortcut when I send files to pen drive it means it is active
now
and it may be in "process" list of task manager. So what I did. I have
formatted my pen drive and put it into the laptop, opened task manager
and from the beginning I have closed a process
which was suspicious and then sent a file to the pen drive. It had created shortcut. Then I was sure that this is not the virus.
Again
formatted the pen drive and did the same process for next "process" in
task manager. One time I had closed "windows explorer" process and
everything gone from the screen, then I had to forced my laptop to
shutdown by pressing power button. Some process denied to close. Finally
after many attempts I came to wscript.exe. It may be any other name. I
had closed it and sent files and there was no any shortcut. I got to
know it and disabled this virus from msconfig.
So it is not necessary that its name is wscript.exe only. You need to try to close processes which is suspicious.
